Antique botany print titled 'Licuala nana'. Original old print of a species of fan palm. This print originates from volume 2 of 'Rumphia, sive, Commentationes botanicæ imprimis de plantis Indiæ Orientalis (..)'. Published by C.L. Blume, 1836.

Karl Ludwig Blume (1796-1862) was a German botanist who spent most of his working life in the Netherlands, where he was director of the Rijksherbarium. He trained initially as a doctor, and his inquiries into native medicines led him to Java in 1817, where he began to study botany. He became director of the Buitenzorg Botanic Garden before returning to Europe.
