Evelyna caravata, a chromolithograph from Louis van Houtte's Flore des Serres et des Jardins de l'Europe, issued in Ghent in the nineteenth century. The sheet is lettered "Evelyna caravata Lindl.", with the origin "Guiane" and the cultivation note "Serre chaude" (warm greenhouse).

Two flowering stems rise from the base, each topped with a pink-purple head of pointed bracts from which clusters of yellow flowers burst. The leaves are long, pleated and deeply ribbed, in strong green, and a small root tuft shows at the foot. In the lower right a large yellow flower is drawn with its fringed lip and a pink bract, and numbered dissections 1 to 4 in outline show the parts of the flower and its column, as botanical plates of this kind do.

The plant is an orchid from the Guianas, and the plate is the work of the Ghent firm that published the series.
